Position Purpose:
This position exists to manage the human resources and employee benefit functions for Lake Superior College including short and long-term planning, staffing, labor relations, classification and compensation, benefits, hiring process. The incumbent will serve on the administrative council and provide strategic planning and executive leadership to the other administrators.

Principle Responsibilities and Results:

• Provide executive leadership for the college to optimize the management of its human capital.
• Provide leadership, direction, and management of the college Human Resource Division.
• Oversee the administration of classified and unclassified labor contracts, rules, policies and procedures, and regulations to ensure that the college complies with the appropriate regulations.
• Manage the college performance management system so employees receive annual performance evaluations.
• Manage Human Resource transaction processing.
• Perform other duties as assigned to ensure the smooth functioning of the department and maintain the reputation of the organization as a viable business partner.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Bachelor's Degree in Human Resource Management or Business Administration with an emphasis in Human Resources
• 3 years experience leading a complex human resources department in a union environment

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience in higher education
• Certification in national Society for Human Resource Management
