Week 14 NFL Picks Against the Spread (Yanotchko)

Here are my Week 14 NFL picks against the spread:

Atlanta Falcons (-3.5) over Carolina Panthers

Last time these two teams met, the Falcons needed a blunder by Ron Rivera to win but did not cover. Other than this game, the Falcons are 4-1 against the number head-to-head with the Panthers.

The Falcons have an exceptional duo in the backfield with Michael Turner and Jacquizz Rodgers, and will exploit a Carolina rush defense that gives up 128 yards per game and 4.4 yards per carry.

[Editor's note: "Exceptional duo?"]

The Falcons are a well-coached machine, and I love Matt Ryan having a strong day along with Turner, who averaged 6.9 yards per carry last week.

Lay the 3.5 here for the clearly better team.

Chicago Bears (-3) over Minnesota Vikings

The best story all season has been the return of Adrian Peterson, but the Vikings were dealt a severe blow by putting Percy Harvin on IR on Wednesday.

The Bears have owned the Vikings against the spread as of late as they have gone a perfect 6-0. Peterson is one of the few matchup-proof backs out there, but a Bears 10th-ranked rushing defense that gives up just over 109 yards per game can slow him down.

I love Jay Cutler going against a passing defense that allows a completion percentage of 65.4 percent, and a Bears defense going against a one-dimensional offense. Lay the 3 for a Bears team that needs this game to keep pace in the NFC playoff race.

Kansas City Chiefs (+6.5) over Cleveland Browns

The Chiefs played exceptional in the face if tragedy last week, and this week will be a reunion of sorts in Cleveland. The Chiefs have several Browns alumni that will look to have a strong performance with Brady Quinn, Peyton Hillis, and Romeo Crennel.

I love a Chiefs rushing offense going against a Cleveland defense that gives up 115 yards and 4.1 yards per carry. I'm taking the 6.5 for the Chiefs as this game will be kept close with the duo of Jamaal Charles and Peyton Hillis.

All of our Week 14 picks will be posted on The Weekly Blitz page as they are made.
